Explore Amazing Dive Sites In The Bahamas

Sunn Odyssey Divers can take you to an incredible undersea world. As seasoned professionals, we’re familiar with all the best dive sites in The Bahamas. Browse some of these great locations and let us know which you’re interested in exploring:

Sea Star II 60' - 90' (Moderate)

Sunk in 2002, the Sea Star II is a steel barge sitting upright on the ocean floor. It has an approximate length of 200’ and an average depth of 65'. Penetration is accessible through the open deck. Although this is a relatively new wreck, you’ll discover an array of local fish like barracuda, amberjack, snappers, groupers, and the occasional turtle or shark! This wreck has changed a lot over the years because of hurricanes Francis, Jeanne, and Wilma.

Silver Point 15' - 20' (Novice)

Silver Point is one of the most beautiful shallow reefs enjoyed by snorkelers and divers with cameras. At the site, you’ll find tall staghorn, elkhorn, brain, and star coral with schools of grunts, snappers, parrotfish, angelfish, and an abundance of vibrant marine life. You never know what you’ll see at this site!

Shark Encounter 45' - 75' (Experienced)

Swim and interact with Caribbean reef sharks in their natural habitat! The sharks range from 4' to 8' and are sometimes too numerous to count. This popular dive site is near an old recompression chamber surrounded by a coral reef. You may also spot large green moray eels, groupers, hogfish, and angelfish. If you’re lucky, an occasional nurse or hammerhead shark stops by to see what’s happening!

Theo's Wreck 70' - 105' (Experienced)

Sunk in 1982 and perched on its port side with the stern looming over the continental shelf, Theo's Wreck is the most famous on Grand Bahama. When you dive here, it can feel like you’re looking into an abyss. Keep an eye out; you may spot the 500lb Jewfish that sometimes lurks on the deepest side of the wreck.

Pygmy Caves 55' - 80' (Moderate)

The Pygmy Caves are nicknamed tunnels because of the high coral formations that run perpendicular to the shoreline. The formations include overlapping ceilings, which make these caves perfect for exploring. In July 2001, we sighted a whale shark in the area, and our divers had the chance to hitch a wild, wonderful ride! Other marine life includes schools of horse-eye jacks, snappers, large groupers, spotted eagle rays, and sharks.

Moray Manor 60' - 80' (Novice)

Known for plentiful green moray in the '70s, Moray Manor is a cool adventure dive site. You may still spot some morays, as well as sharks and a healthy population of other marine life. This location boasts a heather coral that grows perpendicular to the shore and can reach up to 10'.

Ben's Cavern 50' (Advanced & Cavern Certified)

This inland blue hole is a national preserve and allows only four divers at a time. A little scheduling will pay off as you watch sunlight dapple the water and dance on the stalactite formations, fossilized coral, and glow-through crystal columns. Mango snapper, mosquito fish, and blue crabs are among the mix of curious fresh and saltwater sea life in a truly unique location. Make plans to journey to this site by arranging a dive with us for $175 + $15.00 Park entrance fee.

Littlehale's Lair 60' - 80' (Experienced)

Littlehale's Lair is highlighted by sloping coral formations and an abundance of marine life. This dive site includes a chimney-like hole from top to bottom, which is incredible to swim through. Groupers, snappers, grunts, and the occasional hammerhead may show up.

Fish Farm 10' - 20' (Novice)

Be surrounded by more fish than you can count and more color than you can imagine by snorkeling at our fish farm. This site is a photographer's dream come true. You’ll get to swim with incredible marine life, including dolphins, who’ve been known to venture into the deeper sections of this reef.

Eden Banks 40' - 60' (Novice)

If you're looking for a lush garden of soft, healthy coral, this is the site for you. Stingrays, large snappers, and grunts are surrounded by scattered and land coral. Eden Banks is just ten minutes from Sunn Odyssey Divers dock.

Testimonials

"Hey Karen, Melanie and I are back in Seattle after our amazing time in the Bahamas. Thank you again for making me and my wife feel so special. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your quick response to my emails, even over the Christmas holidays, and how you adjusted your diving schedule to accommodate a later than usual arrival time. Nick was an amazing guide. He was very patient and considerate with both my wife and me, we were extremely comfortable the whole time. All of the gear we rented — BCDs, weights, and tanks — all gear was in excellent condition. The two dives we did (Pygmy Caves and Moray Manor) were AMAZING! We saw blackfin sharks, sea turtles, huge lionfish, grouper, barracuda, and amazing reefs. Visibility was about 90 feet. I will highly recommend Sunn Odyssey to all my friends and I know if I ever go back to Freeport they will be the first dive company I call." - Tony S.
